About Hawleys

Hawleys Auctioneers was established in 2001 by John and Caroline Hawley and is based in North Cave and Beverley in East Yorkshire.

As an independent auction house we have always tried to conduct our business with the highest possible integrity. While old fashioned values have been maintained, up to date modern day technologies and internet bidding platforms have been embraced, enabling us to give personal service with an international global reach.

John and Caroline have both been involved in the Antiques trade for too long to mention. John started working in his father’s antique shop in Beverley in 1966, he had some time off for bad behaviour but returned full time in 1986 and has been dealing, auctioneering and valuing since then. Caroline has been dealing virtually all her life and opened her first antiques shop in South Cave in 1983 and she has been involved in the business ever since. For a number of years Caroline has been one of the experts on the BBC in their Flog It and Bargain Hunt programmes and is still enjoying her life in antiques to the full.

Since 2018 Caroline’s son James has been involved in the business, introducing software systems to enhance and ensure a timely, secure and comprehensive service for clients in both the selling and buying procedures at Hawleys.

Talks, Presentations and Charity Events

Although Caroline is busy with the auctioneering business and her media roles, she also makes time for talks and presentations to organisations and groups both large and small, on a variety of subjects related to antiques. These are informative in content and light-hearted in delivery. Caroline is also busy throughout the year conducting charity auctions, with her auctioneering skills amusing and entertaining the audience while extracting the maximum return for good causes.
